What we found on a typical shutters site
When we audited Shuttersmith, a Gold Coast plantation shutters business that had run on word of mouth for years:
- No analytics at all. Nobody could say what the site was doing, because nothing was measuring it.
- No structured data. Google and AI assistants had nothing clean to read about the business, its services or its service area.
- AI crawlers blocked at the hosting level. ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity couldn’t read the site even if they wanted to.
- A Google Business Profile at risk of suspension.
These aren’t unusual. Run the free website check on your own site and see which apply.
What we did about it
1. Fixed the existing site. Analytics, schema, AI-crawler access and the Google Business Profile, through our SEO & GEO work. Since tracking started in July the site has had 733 visits (as of 18 Oct 2026), and of those with an identifiable source, most came from Google search. There was no analytics before, so that’s a first measurement rather than a lift over a baseline.
2. Rebuilt it. Off WordPress and Elementor onto a fast static build, carrying over 7 main pages, 10 blog posts and 10 suburb pages. Lighthouse: performance 92–98, accessibility, best practices and SEO all 100. The rebuild is awaiting the owner’s sign-off.
3. Built the second business. The owner backed a trade-price, self-install shutters business, and we built that site too, with a measure calculator and a DIY or professional-install toggle so customers can reach a price themselves. It’s in staging.
“We engaged Andrew to have a look at our website,he explained what he needed to do and fixed everything and we our now getting lots more jobs through from.the internet traffic He also built a new website for a new branch of the business The work is fantastic and he absolutely nalied it”
What a shutters or blinds site needs
- A page for each suburb and product you want work in. Plantation shutters, roller blinds, awnings, whatever you actually sell, where you actually install.
- Quote requests that reach you. A form or call button on every page, with enquiries going straight to your inbox or phone.
- Real photos of real installs. Your own work, not stock images.
- A Google Business Profile that’s complete and gets reviews. Most local jobs are won or lost on the map listing.
- Optional: a price calculator if you sell trade or self-install, like the one we built for the second business.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a new website, or can you fix the one I have?
Often a fix is enough. For Shuttersmith we started by fixing the existing site (analytics, schema, AI-crawler access and the Google Business Profile) with our Setup package at $3,880 AUD$2,700 USD. The free website check tells you which applies to you.
Can customers get a price online?
Yes. For a trade-price, self-install shutters business we built a measure calculator with a DIY or professional-install toggle, so customers can reach a price themselves. That’s quoted separately from the standard build, in writing, before we start.
Do you build suburb pages?
Yes, for the areas you actually want work in. The Shuttersmith rebuild carried over 10 suburb pages along with 7 main pages and 10 blog posts.
